TPC Sawgrass – THE PLAYERS Stadium Course
Named one of the Top 50 Golf Courses in the World by Golf Magazine, our newly renovated signature course is revered as the home of one of professional golf’s most prestigious competitions: THE PLAYERS Championship. Here you will face the same challenges that have tested the skill and resolve of the game’s greatest players – including the formidable par-3 17th Island Green, one of the “World’s Most Photographed Holes".
Dye’s Valley Course
Filled with the kind of tantalizing twists and tricky shots that Pete Dye is famous for, this course has hosted its fair share of high-profile contests over the years, including the Senior PLAYER Championship, the Cadillac NFL Golf Classic and the United Van Lines Aces Championship.
Camp Director
Directing the camp at the TOUR Academy at Sawgrass is Shane Gillespie. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame in Aerospace Engineering, Gillespie has spent the last 13 years teaching golf. Following 8 years of running a highly successful academy near Tampa, Florida he joined the TOUR Academy as a Head Instructor. Shane has developed a number of junior golfers into top regional and national players. His students have won 2 High School State Championships, qualified to play in 12 USGA National Championships, 3 First Tee Pebble Beach Pro-Amateur, and competed in the NCAA National Championship. His high school players have won a number of district and regional championships and have been named “County Player of the Year” numerous times. Many of his students have received college scholarships and have been honored with multiple collegiate awards. One student has played on the Canadian Tour the past two seasons. Gillespie has also worked to integrate nutrition and fitness into his training programs gaining knowledge in these areas with certifications from the CHEK Institute and the Titleist Performance Institute.
Additional Staff
During the TOUR Academy Junior Golf Camp, Shane will be assisted by a staff of PGA Professionals who will serve as the camp counselors. Each of our TOUR Academy instructors is a carefully selected career teaching professional who share a refreshing, effective and proven approach to the art of successful golf instruction. Golf instruction will focus on improving the camper’s swing, short game, putting, and course management. We are dedicated to improving not only the camper’s fundamentals, but their mental game as well.
Accommodations
Campers will be housed 2 per room in the newly renovated Sawgrass Marriott Resort & Spa. Breakfast and dinner will be had at the hotel dining facilities while lunch will be taken everyday at the golf course. Campers are fully supervised 24 hours a day. Campers may also request roommates.
Camp Specifics
Overnight campers will check-in on the first day of camp between 1:00 - 3:00 pm. The graduation ceremony will take place on the last day of camp after the tournament at the TOUR Academy clubhouse.
The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and all meals. The Commuter fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast. Commuter campers may participate in the evening activities.
Campers arriving to the Jacksonville International Airport are to secure their own transportation to and from the airport. The preferred arrival and departure times are from 10:00am - 12:00pm on the first day of camp and 4:00 - 7:00 pm on the last day of camp.
Full Day campers will check-in on Monday at 9:00 am. The camp will end at 4:00 pm each day, with the graduation ceremony taking place on Friday at 4:00 pm after the tournament at the TOUR Academy clubhouse.
Half Day campers will check-in on Monday at either 9:00 am or 2:00 pm. The camp will end at noon or 5:00 pm daily.
